Subaru General Anything about Subaru related that would not be more appropriate in another existing i-Club forum.

New WRX will still have 16" wheels :-(

Its because the WRX is more of an "all-purpose" model and the 16's are better for rough terrain and U.S. roads. The 17's are definatly the better looking wheels, but the tires Subaru puts on them are summer-only and no good for the winter climates around the states, as well as the lower profiles on bad roads like I mentioned.

how many people keep the stock wheels for a long period of time anyway? since the wrx is more a "tuners car" than anything else, im guessing subaru said "well, the kids are gonna get new wheels anyway" and they were right

for a lot of people, a really nice set of wheels sets their car apart or gives it that unique look. and if everyone had a nice set of 17's from the factory.........well.....u get it

Heh heh, I have 2 sets. One for summer and one for winter. I bought the second set dirt cheap. Yeah, 17's look nicer and I was originally going to get those for my summer tires, but $250 for OEM 16's with almost brand new rubber on them was just too good of a deal to pass up.
If you get a new WRX and don't upgrade the brakes, keep your OEM wheels and tires for the winter then spend $900 on some 17" Rota's with summer tires and move on in life. You just saved $300 over the factory 17 option.
