New WRX owner
I hope to be buying a WRX Wagon soon.
I am used to driving a RWD BMW 330Ci.
Is there anything I need to keep in mind for the car transition, as far as driving techniques? Things like shifting, turning, etc. How to achieve the quickest launch.
Any other suggestions would be helpful as well.
Also, in all honestly, how is the overall reliability and cost of maintenance with Subarus compared to other reliable cars like Honda, Toyota, etc. I found my Bimmer to be kinda a pain to maintain, which is a big reason for the trade up.
Thanks in advance!

yes, there are many things that are different about subarus than bmws. first AWD, if you dump the clutch past a certain point, your gona break the gears, as most of the transmission is made of glass. a wrx is gona have more of a notchy feeling while shifting with the stock oil, its not as smooth as bmw's ive driven. while cornering NEVER BRAKE! if you do you can kiss your subaru goodbye...first, brake before the turn, and gas it through the turn just before the apex, if you start to slip...let up on the gas for a second, then slam it back down. try to avoid letting the left two or right two wheels in a puddle of water, it will transfer power and youll vear one way or another. you need to break the enigne in too, dont rev past 4000 rpms for the first few thousand miles, and dont race or launch or nething crazy till 8000 if you can stand it, the subaru has a tough as nails engine and it needs to brake in properly...the factory recomends 1000-4000, but thats optimistic. make sure you change the oil regularly, maximum of 2500 because of the turbo engine. i gota run, hope this helped

The characteristics of a AWD car and a RWD car are different. I have no real life experience with AWD cars but from what ive read and played it is best to brake b4 the corner and the floor it in the middle of the turn. If you get the game Auto Modelista for PS2 it gives you a lil note on how to drive AWD, FWD and RWD cars during a turn and all the techniques are different for each.
alotta AWD cars experience understeer but if you let off the throttle and get back on it you can turn in more. When you get ur new WRX broken in take a turn with full throttle then do it again but letting off the gas and reappling it in the mid corner, you will see the difference.
If im wrong please elaborate
