NEW to SUBARU AND I-CLUB
Since there have been so many threads started by newbies wanting to say, "hi". I thought I would just add to this one. I just bought a 1997 Subaru Legacy. I really hope I did something right buying this car because the last car I bought, I got ripped off. So, I tried to do things right this time! My "new" car is from carmax and from what I hear, they have a pretty good reputation for selling cars.
After I bought my Subaru, I took the car to a mechanic to see if there was anything terribly wrong with the car. The mechanic found that the rear pinion differential seal was leaking so I took the car to Carmax and they fixed the problem (repairs are free with in 30 days of buying the car). Shortly after this repair, the rear differential started making a strange sound....the differential fluid had apparently gotten low enough that one of the bearings was ruined. Therefore, Carmax looked for a re manufactured differential to put in my car. Unfortunatly, all these were on backorder so Carmax ordered me a brand-spanking new differential for my car and replaced it at no cost to me. They even provided a free loaner car (Nissan Altima) while this repair was being done. While I am pretty pleased with how Carmax is willing to take care of its customers, I really hope this car lasts for a while without too many expensive repairs.
BTW...I have the 2.2L engine...so hopefully I won't have any of the head gasket issues I have heard about...
