New STi owner here

I got my STi about 3 weeks ago and hands down its the best car I have owned so far. I feel that I have graduated into a far better class of people and superior class of cars. I came from the honda realm, and Im glad to be away from it. Its nice to get a wave from a fellow subie owner then get a rev when you see a honda owner.

I hope to make some new friends here.

You most definitely graduated into a far better class of people! That's a given!

Welcome to the family, Paul. And don't worry, all you'll be getting from the Honda crowd are revs. In fact, you'll be so far ahead of'em that you probably wouldn't hear'em anyway! Hahahahaha!

Haha, yep, last night in fact. I had a few guys that I use to hang out with want to race me, one of them has a turbo hatch and the other has a new Si. At least I think, they were so far back by the time I looked I couldnt see them any more

The only thing that sucks though is that I think the turbo is going out already. I hear a "supercharger" wine coming from the turbo. And since I have the Cobb AP and DP along with the Blitz exhaust the dealers wont touch it. Oh well! Other then that its a great car, Im very happy with my purchase.

I thought the same thing with my turbo. If it's the same sound that I'm experiencing, then you're fine. It sounds like a very light whine and it seems like you ALWAYS hear it. It almost sounds like an airplane sitting at idle.

When you accelerate the whine gets a little bit louder, but not intrusively loud. This is perfectly normal. I panicked the first time I heard it and had a buddy of mine who's very "STi-experienced" ride along with me and he said that from his experiences it is perfectly normal. He said he's never been in an STi that DIDN'T have a slight turbo whine.

Just be careful and don't drive it to its limits because it WILL bite you. And watch out for the police, because these cars are cop magnets.
