Question New and question about 06's

Hi
Im new... yay! to this site and to subaru...
umm
1st i currently drive an 05 vw gti 1.8t stick of course... and i hate it
so have "ordered" an 06 RS wagon... by "ordered" I mean a local dealership is getting me one from anotehr dealership, i have yet to drive it... so i still have the option to not buy it...
im not sure if this is the right place to ask questions but...
Iam wondering if there are any problems? issues? or things? that i should be looking out for or that have been reported with the 06's ...
is the shifting smooth? is there any lag? anything i should know????
thanks in advance for help and advice
i'll be around for a while

Do they have an RS model for '06? I think they are calling it a 2.5i now. When you say lag, are you referring to turbo lag? This model does not have a turbo, thus no turbo lag.

No problem, and welcome to the forum!

I think the '06 is too new for anyone to report any problems yet.

The '06 2.5i won't have any lag because like syncopation said, that isn't a turbo engine. I think you will like the torque curve with that car, it is very flat, so it always feels like there is power available. But, it's not a screamer like the WRX or STi. If you are concerned about turbo lag I would avoid the WRX, although I have yet to drive a new '06, which now has a 2.5 liter engine and peak torque happens lower in the rev band.

On a side note, I have driven my brothers GTI 337 (he now has an R32), and the GTI was great as far as torque is concerned, and there is hardly any turbo lag, which I'm sure you know. But the very big problem I had with his GTI was the lack of a limited slip diff, that car would pull the steering wheel around like crazy, it was very annoying. You won't find any of that with the Impreza platform, well much less anyway.

Good luck in your search for a Subie!

Thumbs up

Definately a good call with the 2.5i! I am pickin mine up this Saturday. Steel grey/ 5mt. No turbo lag to worry about, standard fuel with no high octane requirement, better mpg less $ on insurance and less weight overall. For the price and reliability Im really happy with my choice on the 06 2.5i. Good luck with yours! Post pics!!

The Regal Blue Pearl is much nicer than the blue they offered in '04. It's more of a navy now than the purplish Blue Mica Pearl. I've seen RBP on an '05 Legacy and it was VERY nice.

My choices:

1) Black
2) Blue
3) Dark Gray
