Anyone else think the Impreza on the cover on that mag resembles the latest generation Celica? Look at the lines and front styling...looks a lot like my buddy's '03 Toyota.

Believe it, it's all true. The 2007 Impreza WRX STI on that magazine cover is 100% accurate. It is an actual photo of one of the three dozen or so prototypes being driven around Australia and North America right now. It's resemblance to Toyota models is not a coincidence since Toyota owns shares of Fuji Heavy Industries. The 2007 STI will also be sold here and in Japan as the 2008 model Toyota Camry Type R.

Engine output is close to the 350hp (flywheel) mark with dual turbochargers for quick spool-up. Full dual 3" exhaust with four catalytic converters will be standard on the STI model for maximum power. Both top mount and front mount intercoolers are needed to keep detonation from rearing its ugly head under 25 lbs of boost.
just kidding, folks. I love the internet.

Wait...so you're saying that the new STi is the same car as the camry type R? And that it is making 350 HP at the Flywheel with a TT engine under 25lbs of boost???. I'm sorry but until I see anything I just don't buy it. Still though a TT H4 or H6 would be awesome...but 350HP at 25lbs of boost seems kinda low.

I do agree with PCW. They will have to come out with a different model since the EVO X is going to be coming out different and with alot more hp. I hope they do not come out with a hatch. Talk about a ****load in insurance!! twin turbo, two door, and hatch. I do not think it will come out till the end of 07 just for the fact that they already changed the body on the 06. I also would think it is weird that they would come out with a whole new model one year after they change the old. I am going to purchase MR or STI, just do not know which one or when. Might as well wait. Heard Mitsu. might even get rid of the 4G63 to up the horsepower.

Yea, as far as I can tell it seems they are scrapping the 4G63 in favor of a newly developed 2.0 turbo engine. I'm a bit skeptical of the new EVO in general, since it shares it's platform with many upcoming chryslers I believe. Not sure whether the engine was developed with the help of chrysler, however.

The new EVO engine is still being discussed. From my understanding they are going to go to a 2.0 or a new designed 2.4 ltr. It is being designed by Mitsu., Chrysler, and I forgot the third company. I do not think it is possible for Mitsu. to come out with the 2.0 with more than 320 hp without a ****load of warranty issues. How much bigger of a turbo will they go with and what type of lag? Plus I read also they want to compete with the STI's 2.5 ltr motor. It is all hearsay right now and it will be very interesting the next couple of years with Subaru and Mitsu.

They even said a 400 hp verson. What the FQ 400? Yeah right!!! I would love to see that with 110 degree temps in AZ and summer of Sactown sometimes and the lovely emissions of CA.

Not sure?? I do not think so. They never mentioned they would pull that motor and put into evo. Then again if Mitsu. is still in trouble, Who knows??? All I have to say is it is going to be interesting to see what Mitsu and Subu are going to do in the next 1-2 years.

I think you are right. I know some parts on the SRT4's are from Mitsu. I think the 420a out of the gs/rs eclipse is made by diam. chrysler. Who knows how much influence was put into the SRT4 by Mitsu. I am thinking the turbo is also by Mitsu. Not 100%.

I can see in 6 months someone quoting your post and saying, "Wingless Wonder promissed me that the new STI would be twin turbo, I-clubs sucks..."
