Ya, it's the same engine so you can do anything you want to an auto as a manual, unless there's something out there I'm forgetting. If you really need the auto just get the WRX, it'll still handles great and it'll be plenty faster that most automatics out there. Plus, with the few grand you save over the STi you can afford some nice mods.

whats up my man welcom to the site, I just got my WRX a month a go and i love it, i had a 97 civic ex coupe that i put about $10,000 into and the bone stock WRX is much better (except for the body roll). I think you mean boost controler, this actualy controles the amount of boost the turbo puts out. dont know what kind of numbers this will give you but going from the 13.5 psi to say 15 will make it faster for sure. the turbo time just runs the engine after you turn off the car to make sure the turbo is properly cooled off. My suggestion is learn to drive stick, auto does not give you the performance feel. a possible way to save $ on a new WRX would be to buy the current body style as soon as the new style comes out because the dealer will want to get rid of them fast. plus there are only cosmetic changes for 2004 from what i have seen.
Good luck, once again learn stick its not hard.

I see where you are coming from. I learned how to drive on my dads 85 mazarati bi turbo, it was a little hard but i got it pretty quickly. You will like the performance you get more form the stick than the auto, and it is not hard to learn to drive on a stick. just my recomendation, but good luck either way.

Just a quick fyi: I think you meant "cool down" (not "spool down"). Also, you won't find a documented "cool down" procedure from Subaru as there was on previous models. FHI/Subaru actually published that it's unnecessary for the turbo on a WRX. Therefore the point of having a TT on a WRX is moot.

btw, Welcome FT STi WRX.

no, i did mean "spool down." pulling into your driveway after a hard drive, the turbine will turning extreme rpm's, thus the need for it to spool down to an appropriate rpm, and not bake itself.

The term "spooling" is meant to describe when the turbo is producing "boost". The turbo doesn't take minutes to spool down (only seconds). Your not producing boost all the time and certainly not at low RPMs or @ rest.
