New 2004 WRX owner. WooHoo!!!
I just bought a 2004 WRX wagon in silver this past weekend. Although this is my first post, I've been reading i-club and NASIOC for about two years now. I want to thank you guys for helping me make my decision on purchasing a WRX and helping make the buying process easier. The Suby Shopping and Dealer forums are very helpful.
Anyways, I traded in my 2000 Honda Civic Si and I take delivery of the WRX on Thursday or Friday. Part of the deal was that I have to put the Civic back to stock which means I have to take my Koni yellows and Eibachs off. This is why I'm not driving the WRX yet. I bought it at a dealer about 1.5 hours from me and I have to work until Wed. so I won't have time to replace the shocks until Thursday. Then I will go and pick up my new car. And it sucked buying a new car on Friday night but having to drive my old one for another week. At least I have something to look forward too. The worst part is that I have the keys to the WRX, so every time I see them it hurts.
I will be autocrossing the WRX and taking it out on open-track days. I'll have to do a little suspension changing to get it to handle as well as my Civic but the torque advantage and the AWD make it all worth while. It will also make me have to work a little harder at my local autocross where I placed high in STS with the Civic. Now I will have some fierce competition in STX against some other WRXs and ITRs. However, the AWD and power of the WRX will definitely help me pass those F-bodies and Stangs on the straight aways at my local track which was an impossible feat in the Civic.
Well, I've written enough. I'm just excited and looking forward to learning more about my Suby.

Congrats! I'm the proud owner of a new Silver MY04 Wagon myself. Becareful though, I was *testing* the limits and hit a whole lot of curb
Bent the A arm, check out this thread and pic

I would suggest going to a parking lot or Auto-X event and get a better feel for the thing before you push it. I didn't even get 500 miles on it before I broke it
But that's what I do best.
At least it gave me a chance to debadge and clear out the headlights looks really good now. I highly recomend clearing out the headlights on the silver, so sexy.
Enjoy though!

congratulations
a suggestion for auto-xing, start out in d stock. run completly stock for a while (even on the re-92s) to get the feel for the car, then from there start adding stuff and moving up to stx. i have seen too many people start out by just putting a lot of suspension work on there car and r-compound tires without learning the car first and they end up never being very fast. so stick with the stock setup and get fast with taht then move up and you will be even faster

That's ok though because I am more of a track *****.
Picked up my WRX today and so far I'm loving it. Of course I've only driven it home from the dealer which was a 1 1/2 hour drive. I've not gone over 4000 rpm yet either since I want to break the car in. What is good break in period these days? 1000 miles? It's been a while since I owned a new car.
