Explain to them that you want a stick because you like WRXs. Why do you like WRX's? Because their fast, fun cars, and fast fun cars are better with sticks. 99% of people who like WRX's buy em because their fast and fun and know their even more fun with a stick and wont buy an auto. In other words, an auto will actually be HARDER to sell and the dumbass at the dealer doesnt know ****. Tell em that and they should change their minds. My experience with the scoobie dealers has all been bad. The guy that sold me my WRX told me, completely sure of himself, that turbo cars dont need to broken in and I could drive it like a maniac right out the lot. Ummm, yeah.

Yep, for your TYPICAL car an auto will sell much better than a manual, and a sunroof is right up there with those resale stats. However, the WRX typically does not fall into that category. Go to the dealer and check out how many manuals they have vs. automatics, you'll see it's a lot different than your typical camry/corolla/civic. Your family friend is right in general, but very wrong about the WRX.

BMW analogy: over 90% of E46 3-series sedans sold are automatics. However, if you look at the coupes, I believe the percentage drops to 50% or so. Even then, I'd take my luck at selling a manual WRX rather than a manual 3-coupe anyday.

Good luck

Um the manual is roughly a second faster then a auto.

The car and driver test of the manual WRX was slower than the auto wagon in 1 test not by much though....... I'm sure it has alot to do with the driver....I wish we had the autotronic option here like in japan on the STI so I could shift If I wanted

Try to persuade them like never before. A WRX with an automatic transmission is wickety wickety WHACK!
