MY? GC? What is what??

MY? GC? What is what??
Alright, so I've been on here and NASIOC for a few weeks now, and I always see lots of things involving MY Legacy's and GC Impreza's.
From what I've read so far, I've gotten that a GC8 is usually an Impreza, minus the WRX.
Would someone like to straighten up all the little acronyms for me? I'd appreciate it
Then I can look smart when people ask me what kinda car I have

MY is short for model year. I.E MY00 is a model year 2000. It is not just limited to legacys but short for any model year of any car.
The legacy model codes are... corect me if I am wrong...
BC - 1st Gen... 1990-1994?
BD - 2nd Gen... 1995 - 1999
BF 3rd gen (current US)...2000+ USDM, 2000-2003 JDM
