methanol injection questions

Ok so I have an 02 wrx with about 130k. K installed all of my mods at 90k. Im wanting to get more power by installing aem's methanol kit. I have the sti vf39 turbo, sti 566cc injectors, sti fuel rails, warlbro fuel pump, and a metal head gasket, along with a full turboback exhaust. Also an aem cold air intake. So my question is at current milage can my engine handle meth injection with a semi aggressive tune? Will it shorten the life of my engine? Im currently running the stage 2 Cobb map for the vf39 turbo

Of course it'll shorten the life when compared to a stock setup! Good list of mods but I'd suggest before meth injection look into a motor build just for peace of mind. But if that's out of budget or simply uninteresting I'd suggest for more power look into a catless up pipe, 750-850cc injectors, external wastegate and a nice protune. But if your hearts set on meth it's your car do what YOU want! But don't expect a meth injected subie to last forever Unmaintained! Heck if your craving more power and need a temporary fix go to autozone and buy a can of seafoam to get some increased throttle response for today

I was looking into meth, but E85 looked more and more attractive.

You may be limited by the stations in your area (or lack thereof :\ - there are sites that map that though), but if it's easily gotten it's the superior route.

Not that meth is free of sourcing problems, like picking up window cleaner every week or few/mixing your own (which is its share of issues and dangers).

Wow access port ots tune! No bueno! Sell that thing and use the $ For an ebcs and a protune ASAP! You'll be wowed at how much more power that vf 39 can crank out! Definitely get a protune with your setup before considering meth injection my two cents!

I agree with that but I want to be able to get more than just a pro tune. I wanna push it that extra mile with methanol because the closest e85 to me is 20 miles from home. My question is can my high milage engine handle that aggressive of a tune

Unfortunately there is no rule when you can and can't do things. If you go protune you can talk to your tuner very knowledgable people. And if you don't want to blow your motor id get off that ots map.

Dont push the engine if your worried about it blowing regardless of having meth. 85k miles with an 18g setup blew mine. Have some money put aside for when something happens. Its part of the game.

Also Ive always been a fan of meth. I ran it back on my supercharged camaro and I run it now on my wrx. For some people it makes more sense then e85, just depends on your plans for the car. Most people you hear complain about it has never ran it. I fill up a small tank in the trunk once a month, so pretty easy to keep up. And a 5 gallon drum of meth costs me around 34 bucks at the speed shop and lasts me the whole year.
