Subie Research
Howdy,
I'm a new guy here, and I'll be graduating college here soon, and for a grad. present -- my folks said they'd pitch in and pay for the down payment on a new car for me -- i currently drive a hoopty escort.
Now, I'm looking for something that can handle moderate off-roading [no mudding, or mountain climbing with it] w/o having to worry about knocking the exhaust off [like i do in my scort]. But, I don't want a truck because I like having a backseat. I figure that a Subie is the way to go.
I won't be getting a new car, but a slightly used -- probably a couple years old.
Are there older subie's that I should stay away from? What kind of pros and cons go with the older subies? I want one that has some power with the engine. My scort pushes out 88 bhp on a good, cold day.
Just wanted to get some info before I set myself to something -- thanks for the info.

There really isn't a particular year of Subaru to avoid. Check out the April 06 issue of Consumer Reports. Subies got excellent reviews, and there is also information on reliability of past models. Subaru has stellar reliability in most cases......
