pinging

Pinging, such as knocking and pinging, like when using lower octane gas than required for smooth engine performance? Is that what you're looking for?

Being pinged - not sure, maybe you did mean pimped, as previous post suggested.

Car Info: No car right now....sob.
NASIOC used to have a glossary.

Ping is knock. Knock occurs for a few reasons, but I don't feel like going into them. Search and ye shall find.

...ie. "bump"
bump and ttt (to the top) are used interchangably to move a thread to the top of the thread listings in a given forum by giving it a new post, i.e. a 'bump'. This is acceptable if the thread is some sort of announcement of particular interest to members but is best when used sparingly.

TTIWWOP = this thread is worthless without pics. A member might post this when they see a post describing some outrageous new exhaust or purchased engine part or a chance OT (off-topic) encounter with a really good-looking lady in another subie.

FMIC = front-mount intercooler. Correspondingly, TMIC is a top-mount like the OEM Subaru style.

catback = partial exhaust system aft (behind or after) the last catalytic converter. Usually consists of a length of mandrel-bent tubing, a muffler, and exhaust tip(s).

turboback = consists of the complete exhaust system after the turbocharger, including the downpipe which bolts directly to the turbo, all piping or tubing, and can be catless (omits catalytic converters - check your local laws).

tuning = remapping some of the car's ECU parameters that might include ignition timing, boost, and fuel enrichment. Other forms are tune (verb) and tuner (person who tunes). Not to be confused with 'tunning', which is a misspelling.

n00b = is a reference to a 'newbie' or novice.
