Arrow Light pattern on the JDM STI non HID headlights...

I know they are for a right hand vehicle, but this is weird... this is how it looks like... See attempt below...

In green is the light pattern... For some reaon I see TWO distinct -----\______

-----\_______

If that makes any sense to you guys at all... lol Is there any way to actually move them so that there is only one beam of light like so

---\____

Or something close to it?

These are my first projector lenses... I'm sort of happy with them... Is there a BIG difference between the LHD and RHD STI lights?

Thanks,
-Nigel

i have the EDM STi lights, which are the samething, but going in the opposite direction. the lights are susposed to be like that, but from you diagram they are not adjusted yet. they should look like this
---\__---\__
the lower lines should be even hight wise, and the slopes should be spread apart about as wide as your head lights on your car,or a litte wider. park your car about 20 feet away from a wall at night and aiming them becomes a lot easier. since you have the JDM lights, your going to have to aim them lower since the higer area of the beam shines on to on coming traffic.
the reason that the light pattern is shaped like that is because in japan and pretty much the rest of the world they use a pattern like that to illuminate road signs. there may be other reasons, but thats the only one i know about. here in the states the DOT pattern is straight across. pretty lame if you ask me.

It just looks like the vertical aim has to be adjusted so they are both on the same horizontal line.
Here is a site with info on adjusting E-code lights, it's obviously for LHD but you get the idea-
http://www.humanspeakers.com/audi/headlight-aiming.htm

Yes there is a big difference between the LHD and RHD patterns. LHD is the opposite of what you have, like this-

LHD __/ __/

RHD \__ \__

Be careful when adjusting your lights so as to minimize glare to oncoming traffic. You can't eliminate it completely due to the pattern being reversed but you can adjust them somewhat lower and to the right.
If you feel adventurous it is possible to break open the light housings and modify the beam deflection plate to make the pattern neutral (eliminates the rising part and makes it flat). Several people have done this including Imprezer, and there are threads on it that you can find with a search.

How do you adjust the lights?

The reason I ask this is because there are two white dials... but one is all the way at the bottom.. so how would I adjust this without taking the light out of the socket... Seems almost assanine how it is right now... On the passenger side of the car i can reach in there with my special wrench to turn the upper dial but again, the bottom white dial I can not get to without taking the entire light out of the car...

Thanks :-)

i cannot exatcly remember which one is for vertical and which one is for horizantal adjustment, but just turn one of them and check which way the light moves. i used a 10 mm hex wrench to adjust the white *****, or you can use a flat head screw driver to turn the metal ring around the dial. the lower ones are a pain to get to, but just take it easy and take your time.

My only problem is how do I get to the bottom white **** without having to take the headlight off.. I can't aim them accurately when the entire headlight has to be taken out to aim the height of it :-(

yuck...

on the passenger side you have to remove the ram intake tube, then you can eaisly get to the lower ****. on the driver side, try loosening the battery clamp a little bit and scoot the battery back away from the light a little bit. the driver side one is tougher to get to, but you can do it. i just used a 7 inch Snap-on wrench.
if that doesnt work, use a flat head screw driver to turn the metal ring around the white ****.
