Impreza Rumors

I saw this on edmunds.com. I hope its not true

What We Know: The Impreza will be undergoing modest changes this August, prior to a full model revamp that is scheduled for 2007, during which time the car might receive a name change. A version of the car will almost undoubtedly appear at the Tokyo Auto Show this fall before units find their way to North America. Neither the engines and transmissions, nor the Japanese build location of the upcoming Impreza will be deviated from for the upcoming version, although the 2007 model, which will be built in at the company's plant in Lafayette, Indiana, will be a vastly different vehicle, based on a shortened version of the Legacy platform.

Doesn't the bold section contradict itself? They say the current Japanese build location won't change, but then they say it will be built in IN.

Why didn't they just say that?

maybe FHI gave explicit instructions to make it vague and confusing so they don't lose too many loyal subie purists....

Ok, I'm going to try to buy a '05 as soon as I can.

Also, don't know if this is a repost, but I found this on SubieSport forums. Hope it's just a drawing.

That is a concept drawing. Real pictures have been out for about a month now.

Yeah, saw those pics a while ago as well. A little confused, but I'll figure it out.

If I'm reading the Edmunds article right, the Impreza is changing for the '08 model and being released in the fall of '07.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"What We Know: Subaru is giving the sporty Impreza a full-out redesign some two years after the minor updates which are due to appear on the 2006 Impreza. Considerably different than the current model, the 2008 Subaru Impreza will be based on a shorter version of the Subaru Legacy platform. Additionally, Subaru has decided to start building this vehicle in the United States, as opposed to Japan, at its Lafayette, Indiana plant."

I'm hoping they don't just chop the legacy and call that the impreza. The car would lose all character.

Yeah my 04 TS rides rough and the engine sounds harsh compared to others (read: music to my ears), but the impreza just as a certian attitude to it that I feel they might lose with the 07 model.

yeah I really cant imagine that they would go through the effort and expense of tooling for the facelift for just a one year run. It just make much business sense, even switching so many body pieces every two years is a huge investment. It has to be 06-07
