Ok here it is. on my rs coupe it says on the registration it was model year 2000. The guy that sold me it said also it was a 2000 (he wasn't the original owner) . I dont know but after doing research about my car i found out that the rims on my car is a 99-the 5 spoke rims. The guy that sold me it also said that he never changed the tires. Also on the driver side door that says the MFD it says 6/99. Maybe a stupid question but i dont know the answer. Any one help to solve this question??
Also getting the CEL and i thought that only happens on 99's

I think I have the same issue. My RS is an '01, I have a 7/00 production date and I have '00 wheels. TireRack shows my car with te WRX wheels when I look at them there. My VIN ends in 00465, I will PM you if you need the whole VIN for it. I'm curious whether the soccer-mom incident shows up on my Suby.

 

'98 gold 5spoke-only coupe-DOHC
'99 silver 5 spoke-only coupe-SOHC
'00 silver 6 spoke-sedan and coupe-SOHC
'01 silver 6 spoke same as 00-sedan and coupe-SOHC

I don't know how to tell 00 from 01
did the rear LSD start from 00? anyone? I forgot..

I already knew I had a 2001, I am the original owner, plus I know how the system works. (I used to be in sales.) But I was curious why TireRack shows a 2001 Impreza with WRX wheels. I thought maybe I had the last batch of '00 wheels or something. Plus I was hoping to score the free carfax report. I really am curious whether or not my fender-bender is on there.

And I think the LSD was a '00 upgrade.

are you sure the guy who sold you the car was the orig owner, someone probably swapped the wheels w/99 wheels.

LSD, came in 2000 and up.

the only difference between 2000 and 2001..
2001 was offered again in Black, cd player standard as well as the cheezy stick on CF trim.

BAN SUVs, tire rack has lots of WRX take off wheels, and they probably just had a pic of an RS with them on.

My car is white and and it has the subaru cd player, unless it was upgrade to it.
mmm..so if mine is a 2000 it has lsd. And what came with the '99 viscous.

 

All the USDM LSD's are viscous type. Prior to those they just had what are called open differentials. Those are the kind that let cars do one-wheel burnouts... and understeer like a mother when you're on the throttle in a turn.

 

my25rs, the cd player was an option in pre 2001 model years.

Do you know what a MAF sensor looks like? if you open your hood and you have a MAF sensor its a 99, if you have no MAF sensor its 2000.
