i hit a flying turkey!
i was on a highway in arkansas when i was passing some people. I was going about a 100-110 on a clear road when i was looking at this huge brown bird. it was huge like a turkey. well i saw it from far away and i was like "no dont do it" it tried to fly across the road from the ditch right when i was passing. i didnt brake but i just watched and it felt like time slowed down. i looked that the bird as it flew pass me but its a** did not clear. i hit the butt part of the bird. it was a thump and i was pissed. i stopped the car and was happy that it did not damage anything but i had feathers stuck between the passenger side windsheild and the outside trim. maybe the bird was tired of living. maybe he was depressed or he saw a subbie and was dared by other birds to play chicken. i dont know if the bird died but i thought it was pretty funny.

I hit a turkey too >>
sorry that you hit the turkey, but you got off real light. You could have been killed.
I hit a turkey while travelling in the Texas hill country in 1986 in my new Ford pickup. I was only going 60 mph. It too flew from off the road into my path.
The turkey was only a hen and didn't weigh more than 15 pounds.
It hit the grill and top edge of the hood with such force it felt like I hit a bowling ball! Feathers filled the air. We stopped and the damage was really bad. It cost $600 to fix.
If that turkey had hit our windshield we may be dead right now.
Thank the Lord that you did not get a direct hit.
Cheers
