How many people daily drive there STI's??
The only hesitation I have ab out buying an sti is that I put about 30k miles a year on my cars and in looking for a daily driver I'm wondering how reliable an sti would be?
I daily drive mine. Its super reliable, even with Stage 1 installed...
The big cost is maintenance...oil, gear lube, brake pads, tires...
And then theres the paint chips but, meh. I have a blast driving to and from work everyday no matter what and not many people can say that.

I think pretty much any car is reliable as long as you take care of it. Beat up on your STi and it'll leave you stranded just like any other car would.
Now its got 20,200 on it and has been in its own climate controlled storage garage for a month as I am currently deployed to Okinawa. Did I mention there are Skyline GTR's here for 6 grand !!!!!!
yeah, Daily drive my STI...25 miles round trip per day, not including client visits...
thank goodness for vacation time, otherwise much more than the 11,700 miles in 11 months I've put on it so far.

That's crap. You can jack a STI to 400hp and have it be a daily driver; try that with another 2.5liter (say, a VW or Audi or Nissan) and you'd have an unreliable, cranky, pissy mess. Subarus can take punishment like nothing else. My brother drove a Loyale wagon past 270,000 miles on the original tranny and it didn't leak a drop of oil, had zero electrical issues (besides doing all those miles in Northern Oregon rainforest) and fought off logging trucks like a champ.
My 2004 has always been a daily driver. It has V-8 torque from idle on up, which is a major reason I preferred it to an Evo. With the recent SPT intake, it has more power and runs even better at all rpm. Now it cruises smoothly at 1500 rpm in 6th and makes an even better daily driver. I wanted an STi wagon, so I removed the back seat etc. and paneled everything nicely to create the cargo capacity I need. It also has a dealer-installed sunroof that is better than the factory sunroof. The STi makes a great daily driver.
