Hood Scoop Questions...

Well, looks like the wrx (black hatch) is a done deal next month, AND I'm gonna get to pay cash thanks to my unfortunately deceased grandmother.

I'm 30, and all my cars have been POS! I'm excited, but I think I deserve it!

On to the quick questions...

Being new to a turbo, I am wondering about that mammoth hood scoop- 1) should I be worried of rocks and debris geetting in, what's the deal with a screen? I know I've seen this mentioned before... 2) and WATER? When washing it, should I be careful not to spray water in it? What about snow?

If you're in an area that gets nasty winters, you'd do well to put a screen in the scoop or on top of the intercooler to prevent rocks and other road debris from bending or damaging the fins. Don't worry about water or snow, it's a fully closed system.

Yes, you should put a screen in the scoop. Its good at keeping the creepy crawly flying things out of the intercooler fins.

And, it looks kinda cool too.

You can get gutter screen at home depot and mount it onto the top of the intercooler itself if you don't want the screen in the scoop itself - still protects the fins...

sry bout ur grandma...i think theres a similar post you can check out here that will give you different screen options...i think you should just go to home depot get some chicken wire or whatever and put it over ur intercooler or in the hoodscoop
