Unequal length headers are part of what gives the boxer engine its distinctive sound. If that matters to you, go UEL, though you will not make as much power as a EL will. YouTube will give you plenty of examples of the two.
Different pipe sizes and lengths will allow different atributes, affecting spool time and torque and net HP gains, and at what end of the spectrum (bottom, mid, top).
Hopefully with this info in hand, you can do some of your own research (for indeed, "best" is subjective to your particular wants), which is highly encouraged before posting to keep the signal-noise ratio down in the forum. It just adds to the clutter if you ask what 5 other folks before you have. It's better to add new content by asking things which you cannot find answers to after a conservative effort.
Your reaction to this kind-intended response will determine future liasions in the comm. Don't be another yeezy with a spoiler, yeezy.
Ebay EL Headers are the best Ive ever used on my 07 STI. Gives it the reallly mean growl and back fires just like ken block!! I call it a true Hoonigan now when I cruise around school zones and back fire and scare all the old street crossing attendants. Ebay turbo back too! Matches the quality of the more expensive name brands out there!! 450WHP fosho.

Subaru has A header not headers, FYI. You get what you pay for as well. if you want a header made of quality material and stands above the rest, then Killer Bee or Full Race. Otherwise Tomei/GT Spec, Invidia, perrin, MadDad. I would stay away from megan and other cheap headers that are on the market unless you dont care about quality. (im sure some will chime in about how long their inexpensive (cheap) header has lasted.)
If in doubt, FLAT OUT

NOOBIGAN
Think I'll get ready for the inevitable BOV/Intake/loudest exhaust threads to come.
Seriously though, not trying to be a d1ck, but what exactly is your goal with your build? That's the place to start. Then find the right parts that will get you there.

What is the intended purpose for the header? Are you looking for a legitimate performance part for track/racing…a puuuurdy look-at-me-rumble sound cruising around town…or just another item for a driveway racing discussion?
With the first choice, it pays to invest in a quality product that will hold up under that level of stress, heat and abuse…if it is the second; just get cheaper/eBay brand as you won’t exceed its limits…if it is the very last, just save your cash….IMHO
I have been running an OBX equal length header on my daily driver (with occasional auto-x) for the last 2 years. I just took it to smog the car and after 30k miles it is perfectly fine (but it is also NA engine).
i second this, but i will add a small caveat...

+1! Being a Turbo car you will heat the header up a bit more than a NA car if you do the ocasional track or spirited driving. DO your research before you buy. And like others have said, info on what you are looking for out of the header and what your goals are helps in offering up a solid suggestion otherwise you will get lots of nonsense and randomness.

Not sure if this thread will go anywhere, but here it goes:
I have used both UEL and EL headers. UEL gives a boost in low end torque and also gives the traditional Subaru rumble. Many companies build decent headers UEL for the EJ20/25.
EL headers may lose the Subaru rumble, and sacrifice some low end torque, but more than make up for that in high end horsepower. Again, many companies make decent EL headers.
It all comes down to preference. Seeing as I have owned an '05 STi w/UEL (GT Spec 3-bolt) and currently own a '11 STi w/EL headers (Tomei), my preference has gone to EL. I still maintain a respectable amount of torque at low end, but when I hit 4.5k rpm, the engine really wakens up.
I hope this helps in any way.
