Got a "Thumbs Up" From Another WRX Driver

I was on my way home yesterday afternoon in my four day old '04, when I had my first encounter with another WRX (02-03) on the road going the opposite direction. It was WRB and the driver gave me a thumbs up as he drove by while I flashed my lights twice and gave him a thumbs up back.
So what's the typical "Suby greeting" on the street that you others get?

Just acknowledge the other driver. Wave, thumbs up, nod, flash your hazards, whatever. Pisses me off when someone is so oblivious as to what they are driving, and dont acknowledge me. Make sure you show some love to drivers of the old body style RS's too.

I also got a thumbs up greeting driving up next to an '02 WRX, I guess it's a pretty good greeting and it is also meant to acknowledge the fact that you know how to appreciate superb vehicles like the WRX.
I now do the thumbs up greet to any WRX driver I see.
It's interesting that all WRX owners seem to have this immediate fraternal bond in the open road.

I guess now you should switch to the new slogan then:
Driven By What's Inside!

I think it's meant more to refer to the Rally/performance "soul" of the car as well as the AWD. Besides, there's that little spinning thing that sits next to the four cylinders that makes a big difference.

You need to remember not everyone who drives a Subbie is an
I-Club/Nasioc/2.5RS/Subdriven etc member or even a car enthusiast. Some people just buy em cause of the value/features for the money aspect of them. So lighten up!.....LOL

I have to say that I get none such treatment. Just because most people who drive late 90's impreza wagons are lesbians and old people, doesn't mean there aren't those who appreciate the handling and AWD fun. If I had $200,000 to spend on a car I'd get a WRX, but I don't. I try to represent when I'm out there and drive it like it likes to be driven, but I can't shake the suspicion that I'm somehow not in the club.
PS, I know the WRX doesnt' cost that much.

Do you care if someone wearing the same sneakers or kind of blue jeans gives you a thumbs up cause your both wearing the same kinda clothes?
speaking of which I got flipped off by a wrx owner the other day for waving at him. I have had good encounters tho. Yesterday I had a convo at a light with a wrx wagon owner. I get many more waves from the Old skool RSers.
as for lesbians. I think thats pretty true, theres this male hatin lesbo in my class that drives an OBS and I see lots of jesus freaks in them too that have stickers saying "jesus inside" with the intel logo. silly peoples.

Apparently, the "Subie Love" used to be a lot greater pre-WRX. I remember many of the forums bemoaning the "new WRX folks" who don't "give love" to the old school GC8ers. And how much "less personal" the Subaru drivers (Especially the new WRX owners) became after the WRX explosion.
Personally I entered the scene after Fast and the Furious so I missed all the "Good old times"
Bring back the subie love, hug a 96 outback sport.
