Got My Wrx!!
hi guys, i just got my 2003 white wrx for 24,350 out the door price, car came with air filtration, spoiler, and the upgraded alarm + auto dimming mirror. I just ordered a blitz turbo timer (without boost guage) and i was wondering what else should i do as a first mod, i chose the turbo timer, so the turbo can cool down correctly even during break in period. I was thinking of putting in a BOV, any suggestions? i was told that a 100% atmospheric vent is not good for the car, so i figured i'd go with a GFB wrx hyrbid blow off set at 5050 vent, but i was also told that you cannot hear the bov if the car is stock. Any suggestions? Thanks

Go with suspension. I just got my wagon a couple of months ago. I, like you, wanted to do something so I also got a BOV. I t sounds cool, but that's all it does. I plan on getting:
Front and rear strut bars
Rear sway w/ mrt end links
whiteline lowering springs
I plan in the future to get a tbe from aps w/ uppipe and an Ecutek reflash of my ecu.
Hope this helps.

yep that was me....i was driving a 1996 nissan quest gxe before...well my dad took the car out for a spin yesterday and filled it up with 87 octane...gas...it was about 3/4 the tank, but i just went to kragen to buy octane booster....the can itself doesn't say how much octane it will raise...but i'm going to pour the whole 16 oz bottle in once my gas tank needle goes down a bit....grrr....and he reves over 3....which scares me.....BLAH...oh well....nothing i can do now except even baby it even more during break in...

My suggestion. New rear sway: a must
New end Links: a must
As far as lowering springs go: I just did a set of B+G lowering springs and I am kinda on the fence about the ride. Yeah, first the car looks good sitting on my 18's but, the car bounces a little on the front end. I suppose this is do to the fact that the shocks are not damped right for the current ride hight. The car handles well, less body roll, but isn't all that comfortable. Fixes to this problem are easy. KYB struts w/current springs (affordable) or full on coilovers (not so affordable) Thats my .02

Dont worry too much about the gas cause your computer will compensate as best it can. You can deifinitly get away with 89, not sure about 87. Also, you dont have to worry too much about turbo cool down time. This isnt really a problem with modern turbos but if you want the timer it cant hurt. If your gonna do a bov I would recomend a 50/50 bov cause it will keep the car happier from what ive heard. One of the best things to do off the bat is the uppipe as its one of the most restricitve parts on the car.

Bout the BOV though, you don't lose a lot of performance if you get a BOV that sounds great and is 100% atmospheric. But if you want to get a cheaper solution, you might want to hack the silencer. You can hear the turbine of the turbo and the stock BOV. It kinda hisses. Sounds great though! Hope I was of some help!

To answer your question about the turbo timer Wutz it may be only the suby that works like this I am not sure. But the reason you don't need a tt for the suby turbo is because there is a low pressure in the turbo when you shut the engine off that makes the coolant and oil still flow through it, once it cools down enough the pressure through the system equilibrates(sp?) and stops the flow of fluid. But a turbo timer won't hurt anything except your gas(which is negligible). So if you wanna buy one go for it, also if you have no boost gauge most tt have them.

the blitz turbo timer i ordered is the one without a boost guage, cuz i figured i'll get an actual GAUGE later on in the future, but of course that's when i get my mbc too. i am really interested in the dual stage boost controller or whater it's called, where u can have 2 settings to have the boost lvls change from a click of a switch inside your cabin? if i'm confusing anyone let me know, but if anyone has that, let me know the pro's and con's to it. Thanks a bunch guys...

forget tt and buy an uppipe....if you're really worried let the car idle for 20 seconds after you've driven hard...i just dont think its worth it but its your car so do what you want! congrats!
