Full tank, good or bad?
So the rumor I hear is that your car will perform a lot better when it has a full tank of gas(for reasons I don't know). Is this true? I'm confused because when I see people posting their 1/4mile times they always list how much gas they had in the tank. I'm guessing the less gas in the tank the lighter the car would be. Can anyone clear up this dumb question?

weird that you mention that.. I do notice that my car seems to have more go power when I leave the gas station after a fillup for some reason. I thought maybe it had something to do with the octane of the fuel. I think the octane of fuel decreases as it just sits around so its best right from the gas station, the longer it sits, the weaker it gets, I think?
dunno.. I get better economy in my american iron when the gas hits about half and under, but seems to have a bit more power when it's 1/3+ full... might be the weight distribution if anything, but 50-60 litres of gas can't weigh more than 60-80 pounds can it? it shouldn't effect power that much... I'm not scientist... I just admire good looking fast cars :P
i dont think thats it, iLogin. the fuel pump probably wouldnt be affected by that.
i think it has to do with more weight in the rear causes it to be balanced out more and it doesnt have to work as hard.
but im no expert.

I think what iLogin is trying to say is that with a full tank, the gas gets 'pushed' through the fuel pump as opposed to with a 1/2 tank, gravity doesn't pull as hard, and the fuel pump has to 'suck' the gas through it. Make Sence??? Just my $0.02

the way I see weight distro effecting a car is in FF you have more weight in the back so the load is more balanced through the rest of the car so the front wheels have an easier time pulling...
but that's me pulling a theory out of my *** so I dont' know if it holds any water or anything :P yeah so in the end I probably don't know what I'm talking about :P

A fuel pump will pump the same amount of fuel (gallons per hour or what have you) wether the tank is full or almost empty.
If what you say is true about the car feeling more powerful when the tank is full, then that means the ecu monitors the fuel level and gives you full performance at full and slowly detunes/retards power as the tank empties. The only logical reason for this would be gas mileage to make the tank last longer as it empties out. Why would anyone do this? It is very unlikely. My theory is it's in your head
How much fuel could a fuel pump pump, if a fuel pump could pump fuel

* 1 gallon of water equals 8.33 lbs.
* 1 gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.
* 1 gallon of ethanol equals 6.59 lbs.
