Fix it ticket on a stock STI
So I got a ticket for a loud exhaust..... bone stock STI only with 1700 miles on it........
They also gave me no registration in car and no plates.
Do you guys know how much this is or if i can just fix it to avoid the pay?

Car Info: 1996 Impreza Brighton bone stock sadly
you don't have to fix anything if its stock, fix it tickets are for non-stock items go to court, fight it, don't change anything on your car because there is nothing to change, that is IF your car is stock

if nothing is wrong iwth it there is nothing to fix
if you want to put a dent in the guys record ie he gave you a bad time
go to court then file a complaint.
Here's all the info I used in fighting my exhaust ticket. As for the actual written declaration, I don't have my original. I'll break it down into steps:
1) Declare NOT GUILTY
2) Cite VC text referenced on ticket (i.e. VC 27151 (a)
3) Explain why not guilty
4) Cite specific portions of VC to support your statements (i.e. cite tests that are supposed to be performed, but weren't. noise levels that were alleged to be broken, but no proof from officer., etc.)
5) declare not guilty again and cite VC text another time.
That's it. Be sure to have at least one full page, preferably more.

That sucks. Around where I am, there are so many people driving big-ole trucks/SUVs with loud exhausts that sound like powerboats, easily louder than a stock STI. I wonder if they ever get screwed with by cops. I doubt it.
Fight the man and win. Show 'em what for.

This is my bet what happened...he pulled you over because he was going fishing. He knew that you had to have SOMETHING illegal on the car (starting with the no plates), and when he realized that he had a bone stock car in front of him (if he was smart enough to realize it was stock) he made up some b.s. citation, ie CVC 27151 (a). if your exhaust is stock, I cannot stress ennough that you need to fight it!! Take it to your local CHP station or your local police department and demand that an officer inspect your vehicle and edit the citation. If it is stock, they SHOULD void out that section of your citation. (Basically what cops do is search for a reason to tow the car)
As for the other sections,
Registration, which is 4454 (a) CVC, if you cannot produce a card when the officer asks, they cite you, of course, that could be 4462 (a) CVC...and that is hard to fight.
Same with no plates...5200(a) CVC states that when two license plates are issued, two are supposed to be on the vehicle. So, once again, hard to fight.
I would definitley fight the exhaust citation though...stick it to the man...

ryan if he has a cbe why would he be screwed dont you mean turbo back?
if you had dealership tags cuz you dont have your plates yet you should be good to go. and if you had the reg in that little pocket on the window cuz it is a new car you should be fine with that as well.
Ideally what he (the cop) wants you to do, it pay the fine that goes with the fix-it ticket. Lt's face it, he has nothing better to do than flit from starbucks to starbucks pulling over people who look like they might be suspicious along the way.
