Cruise Control
I haven't been able to find anything in the Forums or the owners manual about this, so...
Are the Subaru (WRX) cruise controls limited to a top speed? It seems that if I try to set mine above 85Mph, the car will just slow down to 85 and the cruise will re-engage.
Is that normal?

Bump because I have the same question. Only my cruise control limit seems to be 89 mph. If I try to set it above that, it just slows down until I'm at 89, and then the cruise kicks in. I drove 200 miles today and it just kept doing it over and over, always at 89. Funny thing is, I feel like this is a new thing. 5k miles ago, I could cruise control at 95 or so no problem.
Anyone? Does the WRX have a max cruise control speed? And why would it kick in now? I had the car in to the dealer a little while ago...could they have reflashed my ecu and put in a new 89mph cruise control limit? That seems so weird. And why is my 89 limit different from jOk3r's 85?

I have read many anecdotal reports suggesting it is limited to under 90.
I've never tried it in my car, the only time I use the cruise control is if I'm trying to stay reasonably close to the speed limit. If you're doing 85+ I'd recommend both hands on the wheel and manual throttle control, just in case.
And yes, I've driven 44 from San Jose to the Midwest, I know there are stretches of interstate in the country where you can flat out jam. But I'd still recommend manual control at those speeds.

I actually figured out a workaround for this the last time I drove down to SoCal. Set your cruise control for the highest speed possible +/-89mph, then push up on the CC lever to accelerate. When you're at the desired speed, push down on the lever to set at the speed, and there ya go, you're crusing at whatever speed you want.

Yeah, I admit that trying to CC above 90 mph is a questionable move to begin with, but hey, so is owning a turbocharged car! And there is something truly unsettling about driving with the spedo pointing north, instead of northeast like it belongs. I finally own a car that wants to go fast, and my CC won't let me!
