Cool Car, Lame Article... Super Suck Botches the CUSCO JGTC
Am I the only one who actually learned more about the Cusco car by looking at the pictures and reading the decals then the anecdotal lump of crap they call an article? I know that I could write a better one myself, I mean look at the tech box on the other cars in the magazine and then look at the JGTC Cusco's, it seems either they're lazy or half of the parts I noticed don't exist... I Know it's Super Street but comeon they could at least TRY and make it look like they're featuring a serious racecar and not just taking pics of japanese eye candy for the masses and writing drivel to fill a deadline they almost missed by not being able to read the spec sheet.... Some examples of my annoyances:
1. 3/10 sections dedicated to story about how they couldn't read the spec sheet, and didn't want to BS the thing (which seems laughable).
2. Followed by a simple history of Carroser , who they are quick to acknowledge Cusco is a sub-brand of. Not bad. That is until a few sections later when they casually mention the Safety21 rollcage in the cabin as if it was from some other company... It seemed nobody told them that this was a sub brand of Carroser too. Hmm i'd better not even mention Vacanza
3. They describe GT300 JGTC more as if they think they are talking about Time Attack.. With every sacrifice made to win, yet they seem amiss to the fact that the engine is only tuned for 300ps, which seems below the Hp number you would expect from something pulling out all the stops for winning. Hmmm maybe I should email them and let them know why, nah. It's funner just talking crap about it on the internet.... GT300 for a reason anyone?
I could go on and on and on but i'll just paraphrase the last part of the article to say what it really means and be done:
"I'm positive Cusco's only problem getting it's point across will be the bumbling Super Street article used to accompany what is an almost perfect example of automotive bliss."

Carbonated 'Carbon-fiber RWD Subaru Impreza WRX Sti' on the cover, Not one mention of the words 'Carbon Fiber' in the entire article...Sighh. I wish this was in Sport Compact Car. Coleman would've geeked for hours over it, there would be 2 editorials plus a technobabble column on it, and the spec box from the article would be an entire page. But at least Super Schlock got big nice pretty pics of the I-Club decal huh?

yeah, the article wasnt very informative, but atleast the car made the cover. i would rather see a suby on there with no or little info, then a honda or some other FF with a big article.
Glad to see the i-club sticker on there. big pimpin'

i agree, i bought the issue for the sole purpose of reading the article about the Cusco subaru and was pretty damn disappointed. an article on it in SCC probably would have been significantly better.

I just though after saying how they wern't going to try and BS the article they sure did just that...
Not a mention of the trick racing quick fill fuel cell, the beautiful digital gauges (which since nobody says otherwise i will say are 'Stack' made until alex corrects me), The Sparco felt steering wheel, the V mounting of the radiator and intercooler, Hell i'd excpect those ricers to at least mention the single wiper conversion
I should be a goddamn writer for them...

I think whitelegacy summed it up earlier. I just expected more. They did this car and article so wrong. Why does SS get the dope exclusives and SCC get exclusives on the F&F cars and the Turbo Cavalier?

well i guess i made the right decision in not getting the mag. i saw it at a store and was so close to getting it when i remembered super street seemed to be more about the girls and flashy cars then building cars that can perform(at least thats how i remember it).

SCC never does THAT. Like someone said in the mail section: SS is perfect crap for crap (toilet) reading material. No substance lots of eye candy

And they actually laugh at their hate mail... they think the writers are out of touch with their edgy hip style!

I bought the current issue of Super Street and yes. I also was pretty disappointed about the infos they provided. I think I can get more out of Japanese written magz by just reading the kanji. haha
