Car and Driver has lost their minds
In the May 07 issue they rated five cars and here is how they rated in the order.
1. MazdaSpeed 3 GT
2. Volkswagen GTI
3. Mini Cooper S
4. Nissan Sentra Se-R Spec-V
5. Subaru Impreza WRX TR
They said the WRX was a senior citizen.
anyone else see this report and what do you think of this?

+1 on losing their minds! the impreza should have been in at least the top 2 if not 1st on the list. ive driven the new GTI and the spec-v and their quality is not on par with the impreza.

the funniest thing is the base price for the WRX is the same and all the others were at least 2000 higher.
low end WRX vs top end competition.

For more than a decade, we’ve sampled a steady stream of hot Subaru Imprezas, and every one of them has been as much fun as free-Jägermeister night at the Hazelden Clinic. With its growling flat-four having been expanded by half a liter for 2006, the pug-nosed WRX has taken a blessed step toward curing its most obvious fault: turbo lag. No longer is this muscular little cur quite as slow-witted at step-off. No longer must you apply throttle so far in advance of a turn’s exit.
And did you notice that this Subaru will clobber 60 mph in 5.6 seconds? That’s as quick as a Dodge Charger R/T Hemi. Thing is, the WRX is twice as much fun in the hills, where it treats its operator to mini four-wheel drifts, then scrubs velocity neutrally and confidently, making you feel like Petter Solberg in a WRC video game.
The WRX offers perfect seats, 360-degree visibility, light steering that telegraphs road textures, a short-throw shifter, and so much suspension travel that the resulting cushy ride reveals the chassis’s rally roots. Then there’s the standard 4wd, making “Rex” an obvious choice for us pale and beleaguered Snowbelters.
The WRX may look like Patton’s bulldog with a cleft palate, but just try to buy more fun for less than 25 grand. Rabies shots included.

I want to write in and ask how they took the lowest WRX and the top end of the other four cars and compared them. I know price came into it, but the WRX limited is less that the GTi was tested at.
