the 05 wrx comes with a bypass valve. No BOV. If you look on the bottom of your intercooler on the right, that circle shiny part connected to by two bolts is your bypass valve
not sure. it sounds nice not loud or anything. the guy that i bought the wrx did some upgrades to it but didnt know nothing about them..kinda weird. it only had 13k miles on it. he said he put money into it but didnt wanna drive it or anything just kept it in his garage (older guy)

you can remove the snorkus and get a slightly louder pressure release sound
the stock BPV is fine for anything not involving an FMIC
I know a few guys are running 320+whp on a big TMIC and stock BPV works fine
save your money and spend it on a tune

you can kind of hear it with stockers... its not as noticeable compaired to a bov... but once you put exhaust on you prolly wont hear it 
and because you dont have your stock intake or the air silencer, you can hear your turbo spool up a lot more
