awd tranny?

As I read more and more on this forum, I see a lot of complaints about the wrx tranny not holding up in 1st gear and the tranny dying because of it.

On the flipside, I'm seeing people say that these drivers don't know how to drive an AWD tranny properly.

So my question is as an auto driver desperately needing to learn standard (and probably will for a new car just to save cash on the tranny)

What are all the key differences in driving an AWD tranny opposed to a FWD or RWD tranny? I will probably learn on one of the latter ones depending on who and what and where I can find someone to teach me to drive stick

try to do a search as this might give you more info one your questions. I'll give you a few pointers just to start with:

with FWD and RWD you can sort of dump the clutch since the tires will break loose and the tranny won't take all the power, but with AWD if you dump the clutch the power's got no place to go but the tranny. So dumping your clutch can damage your tranny with AWD (a lot easier). I don't think I'm explainning myself to clearly but I try...
