Anyone have a How-to write up on replacing an engine?

I'm looking for a good write-up where someone documented the engine removal and installation. Nothing special, just how to remove an engine, what bolts to watch for etc. I'm not swapping a different powerplant but I need to replace my engine with another OEM so any pointers would be great.

Pictures would be great, but if someone could run me through the basic steps it would be more than helpful.

My car 03 Impreza 2.5 TS SOHC engine

Also wondering if it's better to remove the transmission with the engine or swap it by removing only the engine itself.

Thanks in advance,
-Ryan

PS I have not got a replacement engine yet so if anyone has one, let me know.

definitely pull only the engine. Keep the tranny in place.

DRAIN COOLANT DRAIN OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pull the radiator, undo every plug/ground/alternator lead. Pull intake
pull the powersteering pump and ac pump, tie them out of the way.
pull the starter & bellhousing bolts/2nutz. remove dogbone
pull exhaust mani/motor mounts

get to cherrypickings and be sure to take care.
Search around online there is a ton of write ups on the forums.
