AC noise
Hey,
I noticed that when I turn on AC it makes a metallic "whoosh" sound, that sound also repeats itself sometimes when I get on boost at around ~4000 rpms, but that doesn't happen often.
is that normal, or its dealer time?

cheers

on boost around 4000 rpms the compressor clutch lets loose so you can have more power. Dont' worry about it. I just think of it as a second turbo lol.

well the best way i can describe it:
when AC is turned on via the button - it makes a slight "woosh" sound, and there is a little jerk (very slight).
it then works normally and virtually silent depending on fan levels UNTIL you get on boost rapidly at about ~3000 rpm where it sometimes makes the "woosh" thing again. it does really sound like a small turbo.

hmm, mine makes an odd vrrrrvrrrvrrr type sound/vibration at idle
. If I have it idleing, I can feel a vibration in the accelerator whenever the AC compressor kicks on (along with hearing the noise). I am not concerned since if it is not normal, it will be covered under warranty- I just want to be sure before I mod it- don't need the warranty hassles. It is not a "typical" AC compressor sound, but this is also my first subaru, so it may be normal for them
. Thanks.
