2011 sti or wrx
I have an 05 wrx modded stage 2 right now, great car but its time to upgrade.
I drove the new wrx and was very impressed, felt much quicker and more comfortable at the same time.
The thing is, I regretted getting the wrx over sti in 05 but now with the wrx only lacking a bit of hp and handling is the sti rely worth the extra 6k plus higher insurance.
any opinions, also is anyone is looking for a very cleanly modded wrx at a good price let me know; I would rather the car go to a good home then post on CL.

you also get a 6 speed, Brembo's, DCCD, si drive, better wheels, well worth the 6k more. If you will be happy with a nice stage 2 setup and not tracking the car you might be better off getting the wrx and saving the money.

If you regret not buying a STi in 05', you'll regret it on 2011'.
If you want a thoroughbred, buy a STI. Plus the engine layout on the STI is the same as previous STIs. Meaning you don't have the plastic intake manifold and plastic crimped ends on the intercooler like you do on the WRX. And if you ever wanted to go to a bigger turbo the Market for turbos is greater for the STI than the WRX.
If you can afford it, but the STI, it's not just a few HP that make the difference. go to the dealer and ask then to put a WRX and a STI on a lift right next to each other and examin the underside of both cars. You'll know where the extra money is going to.

check this link from the guys at gtworx it talks about just how good the wrx is.

Thanks for the input guys, I think I just need the extra push for the sti, but I just dont think I wanna mod anymore wich would be a better reason to get the sti.
yes I do wanna sell my 05
if your friend is interested drop me an email
I would like to sell as is, this is the only pic i have; it from last year but car looks the same but with gram lights instead of the snow tires, but i will through those in with the sell.

i'll throw in my two cents:
the sti was at least $100 more a month, or $8k-$10k more expensive for me. I couldn't do that if I wanted to pay it off early. It would also have cleared out a good chunk of my savings for the deposit, and severely limit my savings every month.
With that being said, if you can afford to do it, then I would opt for the STI. I would do the math first.

yah, your right about the 100 a month more, but i was surprised to find out that insurance on the new sti is less then my current wrx cause its a wagon, go figure. Either way the new wrx is very hard to find right now so I think i am just gonna pay off my 05 wrx and sell it private party first and then go from there.
thanks again for all the help, but now after seeing the plastic intake and very small ic on the new wrx, among some other things, i think the sti will be a better bet on resale down the road.

i gotta say man, just went from an 06 WRX to the 11 STi, and the cars are night and day. I got to drive an 05 STi and it was definitely better than my WRX, but the new STi handles even better, stock for stock. Especially if you will not be modding it.
truth be told, both are great cars and you cant really go wrong

yah, I ordered a loaded wrx prium 2 weeks ago after driving the sti and wrx back to back. I should have it in 6 weeks from now, I can't wait I loved how the new suby felt.
Good job on the sti, it was a tough decision but i figured the extra money from the wrx would go twords a down on a house and a nice set of winter rims and tires and some tint & clear bra.

Owen, down on a house is a touch more important
good choice! hope your car comes in quick... the anticipation is almost as bad as having it and breaking it in
i had to wait 8+ weeks
