1995 Subaru WRX STI type RA
Recently purchased an actual j spec WRX STI Type RA here in california bay area, would like to talk to people on information on some of the experiences of registering a "non conforming" car here in california. From looking at the car cosmetically the car is like any GC8 subie but with the STI motor plus turbo, I/C water spray, C diff selector, built in turbo timer, roof mounted a/c hehe. Just curious if there is anyone out there that has a 1995 GC8 that I can take a look at to compare the bumper strutures and see any differences if any, I want to register this car under the DOT/NHTSA/EPA guidelines if feasible if that doesn't work I guess i will keep it a grey market daily driver under differnet cuircumstances. I might need to convert some parts if I want to comply with all laws here in the US so I might need some parts sources here in the SF bay area, anyone that has info please give me a call

since cali has the most strict emmisions laws, I doubt you will have much luck legally registering that car, without some modification.
I think there are some companies in Cali that import and legalize cars, you might try checking with them.
btw YOU SUCK! GIVE ME THE CAR!
heheh j/k

It's almost not possible to register. And you have the car illegally in USA.
Only these non-US cars in the list below are allowed to import.
GTR is one of them thanks to Motorex. WRX is not allowed so you have to go through crash test etc to get it on this list.

Here is ducumentation about importation of vehicle.
Only these company are allowed to import. You had to go through them, otherwise customs and cops can seize your car anytime. Motorex is one of the few authorized importer.

You will be dissapointed how the situation is.

Yeah, I think you're in trouble if you want to legally register it. Now, I've heard about some swapping of VIN plates to register things that probably shouldn't be legal... http://www.rhrperformance.com/teampage.html

WRX STI type RA
Yeah I kinda had already figured that I had a slim to no chance of getting this car registered on the up and up since it was already imported by an JDm engines supplier in their 40FT container, so I guess i will register it as a "rebadged" 1995 impreza sedan, BTw anyone know of any hi mileage, maybe blown motored impreza in the Sf bay area, email me personally if you know what I mean, hopefully we don't have any NHTSA/DOT/EPA watch dogs reading this thread?!
