15000 mile tuneup
Long time no post. But i'm back with more questions.
Cars been running great, and NO problems to report.
Alright here i go:
What goes into a 15000 mile tuneup when i take it in to the dealer?
They want to charge me like 250 bucks for something, and I asked what they will be doing and it seems like its just changing the transmission fluid, break fluid, and air filter.
anything else that i am missing?
also i know this is off topic, but they wouldnt fix my clutch shudder because they couldn't repeat the problem. i took it home and the next day i got the clutch shudder...any suggestions on that??

$250 for a 15,000mi tune up? Damn no wonder I do my own work and won't be buying another Subaru. **** the wife took her CRV in for the same damn thing and it cost half that amount. Ask them for a list of everything that it involves and then look into doing those things yourself.

I did mine and they did the fuel injection cleanup with high pressure or sth. I have my maintanence coupon and they charged me $300 original and finally $150. I felt like cheated tho. anyhow, Stevens creek subaru is a lier. I have some bad experience with them.

As far as your clutch shudder goes, if you can produce the problem then that's good. Go down to the dealer and get a technician to go for a ride with you. As long as you can prove that it happens to him then they shouldn't give you trouble. If they do call subaru and report whats happening. At this point its such a well known problem that I doubt they will hassle you too much.

save the money and do it yourself, its basically an oil change and tire rotation. they don't change the tranny fluid until 30k miles. then they supposedly check a bunch of things but its a big waste of money imo

*Insp. drive belts, hoses, cables, lights, horns, filters, and tires
*check fluid levels
*adjust tire pressure
*change oil and filter
*insp. axle shaft joints
*insp. fuel system hoses and connections
*insp. brake pads and discs
*insp. brake lining and drums
*insp. brake lines and check operation of parking brake and service brake system
*Flush brake system fluid
*rotate tires

*replace brake fluid
*inspect and adjust clutch and hill holding system
*replace fuel filter
Thats everything they did for my RS at 15k.
Price was 162.92 + tax

Not just Subaru...
I think the dealers hose people who have "specialized" cars. I had one of the original Nissan Sentra SE-R's in the early '90's and ended up getting rid of it partly because they charged $300 for the 15k and 30k checks.
I guarantee they don't charge that for Altima or Outback checks.TC
