04 sti questions..
Whats crackin guys..i just joined the navy and as soon as i get done with boot camp in late febraury early march im planning on selling my 72 el camino and buying an 04 Wrx Sti and as stock as possible so i can mod it myself...
Ive heard nothing but positive marks about the 04 STi...my friend has one with the cobb accesport 2.0 with the TBE and catted Dp...he says that his car rips pavement...
I wanted to know if anyone else in here as positive feedback about the car/ and or the cobb accessport system.. Also any other info. as to what after that system is installed such as brakes, tires, suspension, etc. would be appreciated
Thanks,
Socalsfinest

Welcome to i-club (and the Navy
)
04 STi is good. If you can land a good clean stock one, that will be awesome. Take your time to get to know the car a bit before you dig into the mods (will give you a better appreciation for the gains (or possible losses))
As far as brakes...not a big need to do anything other than pads and maybe rotors (depending on how worn they maybe)
You need to think about what your goal is for the car and then it wil lbe easier for people to offer up advice on what mods you should do to get there.
Hit me up if you have any Navy related questions....(been in 14 years) and I won't BS you like the recruiter probably did....

Congrads on making the decision on an STi! I sold my WRX to buy an 04 STi a few months ago. I have done quite a bit of mods to mine already and I can tell you the Cobb Accesport(with a protune) and TBE is a good way to get started and won't kill your reliability whatsoever(you will gain nearly 40 whp with that setup), as well as maintaining everyday street driving ability. As far as suspension mods go with some Cobb springs, you won't have to sacrifice much comfort while having a pretty nice drop. Get Cobb's tubular sway bars(they are hollow and are a lot better than solid sways and lighter!), I can't begin to tell you how much they improve your car's handling ability. So, for about 2g's you can really make your car 100x better than it already is. Brakes won't be an issue yet, your huge rotors with the Brembo's will be more than suffiecent in stopping your car. Hope this helps a little but lastly, I agree in that learn the charecteristics of your car first, an STi is one hell of a performance car as it comes from the factory and is much more capable of things that people don't give it credit for in my opinion. Get familiar with it first, then mod and prioritize what you feel needs improvement.
I have a cobb ap and turbo xs turboback exhaust on my 04 STI. I absolutely love it. Im getting a protune in 2 days. I picked my car up stock with 59kmiles for around 20k. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
