03 WRX with 740 miles..
03 WRX with 740 miles..
I looking at a WRX with 740 miles at a local dealership. It's been a demo. I test drove it and all seems good but some previous threads said to be wary of these. What would be a decent asking price? Thanks.

Avoid the demo cars simply because both you and often the even the dealership have no idea what people have done to them while taking their test drive. Especially if people were driving them like that while still in what should have been the break in period. When I bought my car it had a whole 15 miles on it.

I would pass on a demo. Dealers will NEVER lose money on a car just because it is a demo. I'll bet you can get the same car without the miles for the same $$$.

MR PORTLAND in buying a car that was a demo ask for service records they will show them to you it's the law. remember you are not buying the milage in the car but the milage left in it that car should still be under new car warenty. any problem with should have showen up by now! ask for a complete service before
you buy change all fluids and replace at there cost and show you a copy of the work.what ever they are asking for the car take off
anouther 10% most dealers wood go with it this is a real slow market the dealer wants to get rid of it don't talk to a sales man
ask for the G M the best time to buy a car is on monday ,tuesday
,wednesday at night if they have not sold a car that day they will make a deal with you.

If they won't negotiate then go somewhere else. Even if it means driving over an hour. The regular WRX is only worth $21,500 so if they won't go for and you don't want to drive to another dealer then just hold off for a while and don't buy any new car.

Question on the demos... Every dealer ship I have ever been at, if I am actually looking at a car, they will ask me.. Want to test drive it? I'm like "sure" I don't think I have ever been to a dealer ship where they said you can't drive this car that I am looking at...
The one dealer ship still has this yellow WRX and it has I think 300 miles on it..

I went to a dealer yesterday and the best price that they could give is $500 below invoice price for an '03 WRX (Big Valley Subaru, Van Nuys, CA)

Which they then make that $500 back by charging you the destination charges. I hate the destination charge since its them making you pay to have the car shipped to them so they could sell it to you. When I bought my first car in 92 there were no destination charges. That was something that was just part of the daily expenses for a dealership. Now they pass their operating costs onto the consumer.
From understanding of a demo is a vehicle that some managers of the dealership have used and not a trade in. Because once a car drives out of the lot and got registered it is considered a used car regardless of the mileage. A demo is a car that has never been registered so they consider it as a brand new vehicle.
