0-60/5.3sec. forester

this is insane. i never dreamed the day that a forester would be faster than a WRX. The 2.5 XT runs 0-60 in just 5.3 sec and the 1/4 mile in 13.8 sec (Car and Driver).

how is that possible? the xt weighs more and has less hp, right? does the xt's higher torque come into play?

Sounds like the sweetest tuned Forester XT in the land. Also sounds like a full boogie clutch drop. Is that thing 6 speeded?

Yeah, that's what I'm beginning to think now too. I was really excited at first, but now that I think about it, it seems all too probable that Subaru sent 'Car and Driver' a tuned example. 'Car and Driver' uses clutch slip and wheelspin techniques to get all their 0-60 numbers, so you're probably right about that too.

Some disturbing news is that 'Motor Trend' estimates that the Forester XT automatic does 0-60 in 8.6s!

5.3!!!! The three Ive driven were maybe low to mid 7', but I wasnt abusing them. 5.3 seems unreal, but so did a 300 h.p. wrx for North America one year ago.

r u looking at the august edition, because i'm looking at it right now and still see 5.3. it even says it on the cover.
