Why no radio in STI?

Thats the official line "weight savings" but really it is as imprezer says to keep the msrp down and to spin it by saying "look we are soooooooo serious about performance, we took out the radio to reduce weight!! Yea!!"
I'm all for it, I would have just replaced it with an aftermarket system anyway -- I hate paying for something I won't use.

I just thought it was odd that there was no radio.. But there is Automatic A/C.. climate control as some call it... Weight is BS.. anyways.. it was to save cash or to make more cash. Ever seen the magnet on the back a a Subu speaker.. Its like it fell off the refrigerator

I read in an article in the local newspaper that compared the STI with the EVO8.
Under the STI review, they stated that Subaru's reasoning was that the those interested in the STI and could afford would most likely purchase the STI for performance, leading to the deletion of the radio for weight savings. For the other group that would be able and willing to purchase the STI and not completely interested in all out performance would install a high end aftermarket system, which would make an OEM radio useless.

I should rephrase what I said.
They kept the stereo out to keep the MSRP as close to EVO MSRP as possible.
I wish they didn't have stereo as OEM in my WRX when I got it. It cost close to $1K and I ripped it out in 24hours and sold it for $150. LOL
