Sti reservation in California

Hi everyone,
Living in the Sacramento, CA, area, I have been calling around and none of the dealers let me reserve a sti. They all say that it is illegal to do that, and that it is on a "first-come, first-served" basis.
Are they bs'ing with me? Anyone in California able to reserve their Sti? Please share some experience! Thanks.

Subaru of America don't let dealers do that.
in fact if you got a dealer that tell you that you can reserve one. then that ll be BS
some dealer do let people put deposit on the STis but that s a dealer thing..
Subaru don't allow sold order or reservation on them.
most dealer hold waiting lists.
better get on those..

Senator, Maita, Roseville, Auburn, or Shingle Springs? Or all of them?
If you want to talk STI stuff, call up Maita and ask for Chris Jones and Chris Jones only. Tell him Steve from I-club told you to call him or meet him or however you talk to him. Ive been to all the dealerships, and Chris is the only salesman I like in Sac (and he is just as much of a subie nut as us).
Avoid Roseville like the plague, Senator knows jack about squat but has ok pricing, Shingle springs is larger but i havent delt much with them, and Auburn has the best test route of all of them
If you want the best PRICE try the Fairfield dealership... But I doubt they will get many STI's if any.

Wow, I'm seriously envious of the number of Scoobie dealers you guys have up in Sac. There's a whopping TWO (yes, count em two) dealers down in the Bay Area, and one of them (Steven's Creek Imports) is populated with morons.
I don't know firsthand about Carsen, but the sales manager I talked to seems to know is *** from a hot rock (which is a good start).

they don't have orders. reservation or deposit of any kinda (for STi of course.. )
unless you got your Vin number already. you really have no control..
last time i check was 2 weeks after detroit i think...
you can check again.
let us know .. i ll call in and drop a reservation too if thats availible.
many dealers are doing their own reservations..
just happens in the LA area none of them would do it

Cool, thanks, Steve. I will give Chris a ring. Hey, I am actually in Roseville, too. I put down "Sacramento" in my profile, because most people have no idea where roseville is

[B]The Scoobie site gave me Steven's Creek, Carsen and Livermore. I may have had the radius to small though.
Here's complete list (I believe) of SF Bay Area Subaru dealers:
North Bay:
Marin
SF:
Ron Price (South SF)
East Bay:
Albany
Oakland
Inland:
Diablo (Walnut Creek)
Green Valley (Fairfield)
Livermore
South Bay:
Carlsen (Redwood City) - Great Reputation
Stevens Creek (San Jose) - Very Bad Reputation
Further South:
Santa Cruz - Great Reputation
