STI Fuel Comsumption !!!!!
Hey STI Owners (PLEASE REPLY)
I have noticed that my STI is swallowing the Fuel as Hell
I am using 93 Octane fuel.
For example
I put $10.00 of Fuel on my STI . (its arount 43 cents per liter @ the gas station)
I use it to go to work, (3 to 4 miles from home) On the afternoon I return to home (3 to 4 miles, during the night may be I travel 7 miles or so to hang out.
Next day on afternoon probably i will have to put up another $10 of fuel.
Usage of the fuel pedal? May be full throtle in just 1 or 2 gears like 2 or 3 times at morning and 2 or 3 more at afternoon.
your fuel consupmtion is a lot too?

Yeah I noticed that too, but I think it's due to driving habits more than anything else. If you drive normally you'll notice the car get decent economy. It's just having a tendency to drive fast that burns gas.
I think I get about 150 miles on half a tank.

nobody said that they were cheap to run!!!
I used to worry about things like this. to begin with I just tried to get the best milage out of a full tank with and without air-con running by driving about like my granny on a sunday (ie. changing early and not going over a certain rmp). once I knew the best figures my testing was over. now I just floor it when I feel like it and feel the power..
just have fun and drive ..forget about fuel

Then thats the source of your fuel woes.
A/C sucks gas big time in most everything.
My wife's Honda Pilot (V6 240 HP) will get 23mpg (mixed) when I drive it. But I drive with the windows open when I get hot and very rarely run the A/C.
On the other hand when my wife drives it (its her daily driver) she get 15-17mpg as she's running around with BabyJanq in tow and the A/C is always on.
Funny thing is my '93 Legacy (my daily driver) doesn't seem to take a fuel hit when its A/C is running. It's always been a fuel miser even after 11 years of daily use.
In PR where the temps as you say are always relatively high I'd try driving with the A/C off but the fan set to high. The air flowing over you may cool you off. I do this all the time here in Wash., DC and it works great for me so my pits aren't schpitzing.
Another idea would be to tint your windows with a high quality UVA & UVB reflective tint. You'll pay a bit more than for a standard tint (just for looks) but it'll pay for itself in keeping you & your interior cool reducing your need for A/C.

I dunno but recently I've been playing around with the dccd more and run it full open, and it seems that I am getting better fuel economy. It also might be that the car is almost broken it now, whereas a month ago when I was getting 13 mpg it only had a few hunded miles on it. I now get about 200 miles on 3/4 tank.
I didn't see a mpg figure in your post. Maybe calculate you MPG to get an accurate figure.
My MPG varies from 16mpg to 21mpg. The difference is due to driving habits.
I don't think the STi is geared toward fuel economy. Might wanna check into a Honda for economy!
