I'm new at all of the subie talk, and am confused about the deposits for a 04 STI. My local dealer said I'd have to wait for his list of shipments before I could give him money down on one.
If this is bunck, how would I go about reserving one?

I heard some dealers werent taking actual deposits on a certain car, but were just adding people to the list so when the cars came in they would go down the list as the STis came in. Something like that. Luckily in HI we are having our cars ordered (or requested if available) in the colors we want... <crossing fingers>
Get an evo its out fairly soon, J/K.
Seriously, find a dealer who is willing to let you put money down for the #1 or 2 spot so you could be the first one to own one.
Dont' forget on your contract.
1. Manager's signature for approval, (not sales guy)
2. Write MSRP or under on contract.
3. Put $500 deposit to hold your spot.
4. you also have to sign it and talk a copy with your with your carbon copy of your check and keep that as your proof in case a dealership tried to screw you.
I didn't think females like scoobies. Most of them think they're ugly.

thing. One dealership put me on their list for no cost at all!

think the WRX is an ugly car? I guess someone who didn't know
what they were looking at might think so. I know my car is fast
and every time I look at it that is what I see.
Your welcome! I just hate dealership screwing people with their tricks.
1. We have no pricing given to us. We will sell it to you at a fair price.
2. We will sell at market value.
3. We can't order without vin# so we'll take you name and call you when we figure out how much over "msrp" if we could.
4. OK, MSRP and well add all the option to maximum our profit. LOL!
Not to mention unknowlegeable dealerships! I just ask about the sti and my dealer said march? I was like yeah right.
Personally i'm going for to take delivery for my evo 8 around 2/10. If STi proves to be a better car i'm going to get one 6-12 months afterwards. THe STi was never limited anywhere so i'm assuming subaru is willing to sell on order basis if the demand is there. However the evo's are limited to produce at the factory probably due to the 200 spot welds over the lancer cedia. Sort of a slow produciton car.
Well good luck and let us know if your sucessful.

A dealer tried that with me. We can order you one, but if you order you have to buy it and we don't know what the price will be yet.
...I laughed at him and hung up.
so be careful...
