And if so how was the ride quality?
Was it bone jarring or just plain stiff?
How about inevitable potholes and ground eruptions.
How did the tires low profile handle such issues?
Normally I run really tall but narrow 65 series Blizzaks on my Legacy and it helps with flotation as well as striaght line tracking in ruts.

how about the Continental ContiExtremeContact for an all year round tire?? I've heard good things about it and checking on tirerack, the reviews have justified what I've heard....even a couple reviews from people with WRX's
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ContiExtr emeContact&vehicleSearch=false&partnum=245WR7CEC&f romCompare1=yes
anyone else have experience with these, or think these might be a good tire that won't necessarily take away from the performance of an STI (not including at the track or dragstrip, etc.)

It was on my 96 M3. It had pretty stiff suspension to begin with. But for comparison, it felt less stiff then the stock tires (Pilot MXX3) on the same rims. The ride was much more compliant, albeit a little noisier (could be just from the specific brand I was using).

I can deal with added noise.
Better than getting stuck or bending a rim.
Thanks!

Looked into this quite a bit and it cam down to the following:
1. Dunlop Winter Sport M2 or M3
2. Blizzak LM-22 or whatever the equivalent is
3. Michelin Pilot Alpins...
and what did I go with?
Nokian WR, H-rated (replaces the NRW)...didn't realize this was an option until buying tires for my wife's jeep and saw them. Actually came out cheaper than buying from T-rack (and I respect the rack!)...Have had them on for a week now and they are awesome...so much better than the RE-92's...I can now take an exit ramp (dry) at 60 MPH without squeeling or sliding that the RE-92's would be squeeling at 45 MPH and sliding around 50...wet is much better as well. Not squirrly at speed either like other snow-tires I've experienced - ride as well as the RE-92's also. They are rated in the US as a snow tire but in reality are an "all weather" tire. Have a 50,000 mile warranty as well. Don't think they'll be good as blizzaks accelerating, braking, and turning on ice but will definitely be better than the RE-92's and probably just as good as the dunlops or Michelin snow tires...also come in 17" and can get as a v-rated as well.
In any event I'm quite happy with them and know they'll last longer than the 1.5 seasons blizzaks have typically lasted for me in the past.
