S202 partial conversion...?
Ok so it's August 2003, and you've waited 2 years for your STI and you've had it couple of weeks, you've blown a couple of M3's and Cobra's,..AMG C32's(up to 120mph) and a host of other top contenders,..you've blow em' away.........
NOW What? do you start searching for a couple of horsepower, better handling, some PAGID RS4S pads, ??will 300 hp be enough? will a 2.5 turbo with goo-goo gobbs of torque fill the void,..Will you feel like alot of Brides after the wedding day that they planned since 4th grade?....
I have decided I will begin,..PROJECT S203,..yep,..It is rumored that STI has already started on a 2.5 version of our baby !!
Picture this,...( hazzy effect and harp sounds) ....................
white STI with platinum Rays 18 inch wheels, pink STI rear control arms, Spec C type ra front control arms that position the wheels 15 mm forward and remove ALL understeer, STI front mount oil cooler, STI braided brake lines,..WRC rear wing ( with that 3 inch overhang),Spec C front lip spoiler,Spec C springs and Ohlin struts, and last but not least,.3inch PRODRIVE exhuast with ECU modificaton( from Prodrive-USA).
........just a thought,...OPINIONS PLEASE................
944 TURBO GUY
P.S. only problem would be, getting into my master bedroom at night..

The S203 was at the Tokyo Auto Salon ... see "Impreza produced by STi" in the pictures section ... or go to www.poweraxel.com for more info.
Your plans sound very similar to mine. My biggest debate is how far I want to go with this car. I keep waffling. As of now I'm planning on just going whole hog and stripping/seamwelding/group N cage/fuel cell ... etc ...
I used to drive my Open Class Subaru STi II to work all the time ... and loved it ... It's just fun for me .. I love that sort of thing
... the only problem is that it was easy to sell that car b/c it was rally prepped .... this car will be some sort of abnormal hybrid ... I just don't want to build something that will be unuseable in any series. ... I figure as long as I use a spec cage/fuel cell /etc and keep all the interior bits in storage ... I should be OK ... Murray up at TAD, where I'm getting the work done, should be able to advise me on the matter..
So my vision is similar to yours ... just change white to silver .. the exact wheels will be the CE28N limiteds ... I want the external pieces off of the TAS auto salon ... carbon hood and trunk (painted) ... Sparco Carbon Atlas seats (got a set waiting in my closet)... WRC carbon mirrors ... fully seam welded ... group N cage .. gutted ... fuel cell ... then it gets fuzzy
I'll do a lot of track events .. go to Mt. Washington ... if they ever run it again .. try to get to several hillclimbs ... maybe One Lap?
... and drive it every day with a big grin on my face.

3.0,..nooooo way
No lift,
everything except the 3.0 liter. I remember from the Vw days that the larger the cc the earlier it falls on its face !! The 2.5 will rev better and higher than the 3.0 and the 2.0 likewise.
The U.S. sti has a talled 5th and 6th gear because of all the torque were getting.
So to answer your question, nope, keppin it 2.5.

S202 control arms
The S202 has the spec c-type ra control arms which moves the front wheels forward 15mm which is better than a huge caster adjustment, and makes steering input instant. Except when it's moved at the base of the pivot, its a really big deal. It also makes camber adjustments more noticable. This change was made to the "new look" spec-c type ra and every journalist that has driven the cars say the old understeering feeling is 100% gone ,making handling a big improvement. I know with my GC8 at the track even with 3 degrees front negative camber, I had to lift a little (even with a anti-lift kit) to get it to turn. Supposedly the "new look" cars have significant changes made to the front suspension geometry(my source @ Prodrive -USA says all they did was use bushings similar to and as effective as a anti-lift kit)
The good news for us in the U.S. is we will get to drive a regular WRX "new look" in mid to late March and it has the "updated front suspension geometry.

P.S. Imprezer, this would have been a good thread to start because everyone is always talking about 300hp and Brembo's, yet I think the car's real strength will be handling. Anyone who has ever had to "sort out" a car or racecar that doesnt want to turn, knows that if the front wont turn make the back turn, and the dccd will allow that for sure, the question is how many,..quote end quote,..enthusiast will are truely be quick enough to "catch " a 300 hp tail coming around with 65% rear bias?....thats the question I think about when I get a student at a drivers ed event with a 400hp modded STI with a rear sway bar the size of my arm and 65 % rear bias and cold D.O.T. sticky tires.................
ya' know what I mean??................anyway just a thought.

control arms.......
The new WRX and STI both come with the "revised front suspension" geometry as stated in Fuji Heavy Industries November press release. This is simply ALK Anti lift kit and solid links in the rear and revised toe changes to the rear. The spec-c type RA front control arms puts the front wheels 15mm further forward which makes turn in almost cerebral. So all these changes makes a night a day difference in "feel", and if the U.S. press retest the WRX it should corner significantly better.

solid links (eg. kartboy?)
revised toe changes. how would this affect handling? i was always under the impression that toe caused tires to wear quicker then normal.
