Rays Volks Racing Rims

Any of you thinking of Volks Racing TE37 for the STi? Does anyone have any pictures of how they look on the 04 style?

Do you want 17's 18's?????

The Ray's Wheels web site sez (I think) that they have a 17x8 1/2 +50 5-100 that will fit on the STi.

Thanks Mach5WRX - I've been to their website but they only have last years STi as a sample setup - no 04 body style.

I was thinking of maintaining 17's but 18's wouldn't be bad - got to see a sample to make up my mind.

TE-37's won't fit over the Brembos.

Did you or someone try? I'm thinking Rays got to make a set that fits an STi - since they're Japanese.

There are very few wheels to fit the sti's brakes right now. Companies are working like crazy to get them out though. The 18's might fit your brakes but I would call tirerack and ask before I bought anything.

TE-37 will not, nor will they ever, fit over the Brembo's. The GDB has been out in Japan since 2000, and there still isn't a set of TE-37's that will fit over the Brembos.

CE28N's on the other hand, fit beautifully. Advan RCII's fit too. Alex had to get rid of his te37's because they would not clear his new brembos.

Is it a matter of offset? Maybe wheel spacers or worst case - custom order.

It is a matter of the spokes of the wheel hitting the brake calipers. I don't think that you would want to put spacers on your car because it could seriously affect its handling. As well as the RCII's and the CE28N's, I talked to a Volk distributor that said that the GT-N's would fit in an 18x8 with a +43 offset. If anyone has put CE28N's on their STi, could I have your wheel dimensions? Thanks.

hey

in the newcatalog i have here, they do make a few wheels that will fit over the brembo brakes. the sizes they make that fit are as follows

17x8 +38,44
17x8.5 +38+44

as the catalog says

"denotes high bad wheel (impreza GDB with BREMBO caliper)"

the wheels i had on my wagon were the 17x8 +38, and they did fit over the HUGEMUNGOUS brembos alex had on his car (apparently they brembos he had were the largest brembo had put on an impreza anywhere besides race cars). he just had issues with rubbing on the fender. if he used the same wheels now, they would work fine. porkchop in fact is using those same rims on his wrx sedan without issue (after roling the fenders of course).

so i do believe it is possible, you just need to find a vendor who can get you the size you want. and also keep in mind you might have to do some fender work to make them fit.

You know - I was taking another look at Rays japanese website and under the "Setup Museum" menu I noticed an STi with a five spoke version of TE37 rims. I believe last years STi (not sold in the US) was also setup with Brembos and the rim specs are 17x8 +40 from both fronts and rears.

Yes - must investigate.

those are STi rims made specifically for the impreza. they come in:

17x7.5
17x8
18x8

they are pretty sweet wheels, but really costly. i believe there are a few vendors that can get them without issue.

Yeah - I can visualize them on the 04 STi and it will look sweet. Any idea how much they may run - I'm guessing $500 - 600/rim?? Which vendors were you thinking of - I assume Mackin Industries would be one of them.

Thanks
