Racing pads for 04 Sti?
Has anyone done any research on break pads that are avaliable for the Sti Brembos? Will be going to the track soon and want to switch out my pads for the day. My brother lost his breaks after three laps in his Sti. I will also be upgrading the lines and fluid at the same time. Any suggestions?

http://www.cobbtuning.com/ they have some new pads for the STi
You could ask you brother?
Tire Rack: EBC green and red
Carbotech: Panther Plus or HP
Porterfield: Sells Hawk Blue compounds
Cobb: Gets them from RaceBrakes in Austraila
I have the Carbotech Panter+ and had an issue going back to stock pads afterwards (on same rotor). The stock pad would not wear away the carbotech material that had transfred to the rotor.
I ended up borrowing a set of Hawk Blues to use for a couple of stops to get the material off. Now the rotors look fine and stop better.
Personally I don't like the STi braking system.
I used ATE Typ200 Dot 4 brake fluid or you my want to try the Blue so you know when you done flushing the lines but I've heard it stains the plastic resiovor.
I'd go with Goodridge or stoptech brake lines.

I've heard good things about the Carbotech XP 1109 and the Porterfield R4 pads. The XP's are newer than the Panther Plus and are more of a track-only pad. The XP's temperature range is a lot higher than the Blue's (1400F vs. 1000F). I can't find a temperature range for the R4's, but the R4-S goes to 1100 so I would expect the R4 to be higher. This assumes that the companies all mean the same thing when they quite temperatures, which is probably optimistic. For street/autocross use the Carbotech Bobcat or Porterfield R4S would be good -- they are not track pads however (some people report success with the R4S, others do not).
