What?!?! Really? The Evo doesn't have cruise control? Wow...that would REALLY suck. I will need some everyday drivability and my job occasionally requires highway travel.
Is the Evo's lack of cruise control confirmed? What about the STi...does it have cruise control?

Man, that's nuts.
$30,000 and no cruise control? I can install an aftermarket radio in the STi, but I can't install aftermarket cruise control in the Evo (well, not as easily anyway).
I know it's a little thing, but it's a BIG thing (to me anyway) when I have to drive 4-5 hours on the freeway. This may be the one factor that puts the STi in the lead for me. Better ride, more power, DCCD, and cruise control (plus neat gadgets like a shift light). Then I can get a custom head unit, amp, and speakers.
OK, I feel much better now. The indecision between the Evo and STi was agonizing. This makes it much easier (for me).

Yes I always get the urge to drift on public roads. There are no excuses for either company to charge $30k+ for a car and leave out any luxury features. If Honda can get a 3.0 liter normally aspirated V6 to pump out nearly 300 horsepower and pass emmissions easily than it should be no problem for Subaru to get the Sti past it a well. To use this as an excuse to not put a radio into a car is laughable. I highly doubt that an extra 3-5lbs would cause gas guzzler problems for Subaru.

You gotta compare apples to apples, not apples to pears.
BTW, that Honda V6 is nice.
It rocks & rolls beautifully in my Pilot.

I understand that you have to compare apples to apples and so on but that wasnt my point. To use the excuse that the extra weight of a 5lb radio would be the reason a car would get the gas guzzler tax added is hysterical. There is no excuse for this. I was saying that the Evo weighs the same as the Sti and has a radio and has no trouble at all getting past the gas guzzler. This was just a rediculous oversight by Subaru.

The radio is only _one_ piece of an overall large pie of weight reduction efforts taken to meet CAFE requirements.
Why not get focused on the light weight rear window which in theory makes it easier to break into the car or the lack of mats or the aluminum hood which will be all that easier to dent or the forged aluminum lightweight wheels which as a result cost $800 per?
A bigger thing to worry/fixate on is the cost or winter compatible replacement tires and/or rims. Or what about the cost of pads for the brakes (rumored at NASIOC to be $350 for a set!) and thats not to mention the fact that you'll have to buy and install an alarm as the car does not have one stock (as most $32K cars do).
The radio not being standard is only of minor concern.

$360-370 is a lot of cheddar for brake pads.
