production numbers?

production numbers?
So far I have read from AutoWeek that there will be 300 per month (3600 annually) and at the Official Unveiling 4000-5000 annually. However, the dealers are saying 300-600 annually. This could mean one of two things; that the dealers are full of it or that the dealers are full of it. Regardless, the dealers are doing their usual price gouging. That is nothing new. Of the 5 dealers I talked to, one said $3-$5 markup, another said $37K, and another had an undisclosed markup, the others didn't have any details yet. So back to the topic at hand:
What is the ACTUAL production number of this car. And why are the dealers stating a different number than the media?
It would be preferred if salespersons or people 'in the know' would reply.

I talked to one of the dealers who said that there will be only 300 or so made. I corrected him saying that there should be around 4000-6000. He acknowledged that after I pointed it out. So from what I know, it will be around 4000-6000

yeah, i heard something similar...my dealer told me that they had to agree to approx. $500k in upgrades to their service shop before they would be allowed to sell the car...something about their old equipment was not able to work on the STi's many unique systems (DCCD???). with capital expenditures like that (assuming the lady knew what she was talking about), i'd be surprised if the smaller dealerships would sell them. is $2-3k profit per car worth that much? probably not. but who knows, maybe subaru only requires the larger regional dealers to be able to fully service the car...the one i went to is the largest in SC.
