Basically what he is doing is putting in a catless downpipe. The stock one has a cat in it. Alot of normal WRX guys replace the cat in the uppipe. The sti has no cat in the uppipe. what you feel by removing the cats is a faster turbo spool up. Max boost will come on quicker.

to add to dlowman's reponse the downpipe comes off the turbo and routes the gases back to the exhuast. the up pipe diverts the exhuast gases to the turbo before it goes to the exhuast. there is a picture detailing the wrx exhaust system but i can't find it right now.

LOOKS LIKE 4 CATS TO ME

Whats up with this 2 cats only the sti, MY Top Mech and myself looked last week and found 4 cat, (or 3 and a resinstior) and a muffler. What gives hear. I for sure have a big cat on my STi down pipe?

HELP ANYONE, IM FREAKING OUT! IM IN CAT HELL!
