Octane boosters for PING/KNOCKING?
Guys. I keep hearing noticiable the knocking on my STI.
Would Octane Boosters really helps?
I am using SHELL 93 octane, always..
Mostly pinging is heard when acelerating on high gears at low rpms.
I dont want to take it to the dealer for reflash, then adding utec when it finish. I would like to leave the car as it comes then add utec (When it goes out) to prevent any conflict with the new flash and the Utec..
Any Help?

You should really get it checked out. Usually cars 'lug' in high gear low rpm, but if they ping thats detenation.

Octaine boosters are junk. They say it increases the octaine up to 4 points, Yah 0.4! If you are running 92 Oct. then you will get 92.4 Try the Toloene/Xylene. Do a search for race fuel in Nasioc.com. As for how it sounds, Alexr 40 described it quite well.

my car is pinging!
My car has serious detonation at 3500 rpm;s and up under hard acceleration. This really sucks after paying 31,000 for a new car. I'm taking it to the dealer next week and hopefully they can fix it. Anyone else on this board have any answers?

it's fluttering
at high gears, low rpm, a lot of throttle, u're putting a lot od load, so the wastegate bleeds the air out automatically
that's fluttering, u most probably have your silencer box out or else u shouldn't be hearing this sound
or u have a downpipe which amplifies the sound
it's normal
pinging sounds are more like high rpm, low gear
just to keep in mind that high gear low rpm isn't what the car is designed for
downshift to 3rd and go instead of trying to beat others at 5th gear
