Nos & STI
So whats up with the STI and puttin a simple shot of NOS inside. it seems the internals of the new STI could handle it and if so would it be worth while cuz i've experienced subaru top speed is only like 140 and its mostly and fast accelerating car because of the AWD and relaly isnt for much faster than that

dont waste your money, there are safer and more trouble-free (which equals easier) ways to make power
the sti is a beautifull thing, and i would hate to see you screw a supercar up over some $600 nitrous kit, but thats just my opinion
easy street ran their record breaking time with nitrous

Can you tell me how Nitrous is going to increase the top speed?

In general, NOS can increase top speed.
That would be a case where a car has mechanical (gearing) potential to reach higher speeds but cannot do so, due to the lack of power. That would be a case with like Metro, Assfire and other putt-putts.
If, a car's top speed is gear limited, then no matter how much power you are pushing, you will not go faster than your last (5th or 6th) gear will allow you to.
Subaru's top speed is gear limited. So NOS will not help. It will help reaching those speeds faster.
However, I think that putting NOS on an STi is a crime.

Besides where are you going to drive 140MPH and do so safely?
Personally I'd rather go from a rolling 5-80mph or top gear accelerate from 40-60mph quick than be top speed fast.
Quickness I can use and enjoy everyday on the street. Top speed is just for saying you can but is rarely ever used.
Below is a drag race showing why being quick off the line is better than being fast (top speed).
Ford Escort vs. Dodge Ram Pickup vs. Man with really white socks!

The 'Runner' takes the Escort (or shall I say Escargot) from the start for the first 15-20 feet. The Dodge truck has all kinds of low end torque and looked like the space shuttle taking off relative to the other two.
Following my earlier post, it doesn't really matter how fast you end up going at top speed. Because that Escort still got smoked off the line buy a guy in dirty Nike's.
It's better to be quick than fast in the real world.

Putting NOS in an STi sounds weird to me too, but I'm not part of that crowd. How about the funky Panoz GTR-1 Q9 electric hybrid -- recharge the battery with the brakes and with extra engine power elsewhere, then spurt an extra 150hp on the straights. Regardless, I think something like one of the rumoured Prodrive packages would be a better option unless you're drag racing.

Prodrive is the reliable & dependable way to go.
NOS in an STi makes no sense.
BTW, Honda/Acura is rumored to be working on the next gen NSX (2006?) to have a hybrid drivetrain. It'll retain the mid-engine V-6 driving the rear wheels and have two high powered e-motors at the front with an IMA unit like in the insight hooked into the rear.
It'll provide all kinds of instantaneous options such as AWD with no front or center diff (or drive line tunnel!), improved gas mileage, even quicker acceleratin (e-motors put out nearly 400ft/lbs of instantaneous torque), regenerative braking, and more.

nos = 50-80 HP, in any gear, and rpm... so I guess u can say it gives u more top speed..

nitous
there is NOTHING wrong with nitrous (NOS is simply a brand)
Im so sick of people puting it down. why is your TURBO so special anyway? the idea is still the same, put more OXYGEN into the engine. they both do the same thing.
For you people who dont know how each one works heres a little catch u up.... a turbo system uses your exaust gasses to spool up the turbo to then force more new air into your engine, resulting in more outside air(oxygen, C02, smoke and other chemicals) being SQUEEZED into your engine. Now...this is ok if you like using your exaust for something =) but...why do you need all that power ALL the time?you dont.
exactly why nitrous is a much better alternative. Nitrous oxide is a gass wich when released( @ the press of a button) turns into a liquid that has a VERRY high % oxygen. i think its like 70% oxygen as apposed to your outside air wich is something like 40% oxygen. Now when your engine recieves this 70% oxygen it can therefor put out MORE FUEL to burn with the O2. creating MORE power......A turbo just forces more outside air into your engine....who needs that? just get an efficent RAM air intake and nitrous and you will be doing ALOT better....o yea...nitrous is alot cheaper too.
And as far as people saying nitrous will RUIN your car etc etc..... this is VERRY true to some extent, because nitrous has been afiliated with RICERS to most people. and what do ricers know about cars? NOTHING. they self install 150 horsepower kits and blow thier engines when they hit the button at 2,000 RPM. you CANNOT simply bolt on 150horsepower! heh....most cars stock cannot handle that much power. as far as the STI goes ....as far as i have read...the block is MUCH improved over all over subaru engines , but can it handle ANOTHER 150 horses? why dont u find out =)

BTW, I do agree with you that NOS has obtained a certian Ricer image, especially after the Fast and the Furious came out. NOS has it's place, but most people outside of drag racing don't use it because it is impractical (only last so long) and outlawed by most sanctioning bodies such as the SCCA and the FIA. And since the STi was never meant to be a drag racing car a lot of people get funny when you begin to associate it with something traditionally used only for drag racing.
